"Test Paradise" is an REmax Appropriation Art Piece (RAAP) on a work by Constant Dullaart “Jennifer in Paradise”. Jennifer is replaced by the first photo on social media by Kevin Systrom. Also a REmax on the text found on the fotomuseum website (See website link below): Ax710 recovers the first instagram post in history, manipulates and redistributes it, making it widespread again. Created by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger, Instagram was released publicly on October 6, 2010. Former Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom posted his first photo on his social media account. The picture of the cute stray dog taken in Mexico was believed to be the first-ever Instagram post. This artistic intervention is not just an archeological effort, though. Behind the placeholder image lie the initial ideals and promises of digital culture, embodied by the manipulation allowed by the filters of Affinity Photo. "Test Paradise" reveals the creative utopian vision behind tools that allowed free exchange and cultural expression in a world still unaware of surveillance and control of contemporary imaging systems. The photograph and its endless variations become a nostalgic ode to a historical moment and a reminder of the cultural hegemony hidden behind digital images. Finally the artist inscribes a secret visual message, encoded within the print through a steganographic encryption, exploiting the possibility for the visual placeholder to carry a message within it.

On 16 July 2010, Instagram’s co-founder and CEO Kevin Systrom (USA) uploaded a picture of a golden retriever to the app, which was then known as “Codename”. The names of the dog and its owner are not known, but the foot in the picture belongs to Systrom’s girlfriend. The photograph was taken at a taco stand named Tacos Chilakos in Todos Santos on the Baja California Peninsula in Mexico. The app was made available to the public in October that year, by which time it had been retitled "Instagram".
